A Lion Air flight crashed in the sea north of Java Island, 13 minutes after taking off from Indonesia’s capital Jakarta, which had 189 people on board. Reports suggest that there were no survivors from the horrific air crash. The crash happened on 29th October, 2018 when a Boeing 737 vanished from radar 13 minutes after taking off from Jakarta. Some witnesses claimed that the plane plunged into the Java Sea. Rescuers have been on a search for survivors since then and have found some human remains. Operational director of the rescue agency said that:

“The victims that we found, their bodies were no longer intact and it's been hours so it is likely 189 people have died.”

The crew included two infants, two children and some members from Indonesian Finance Ministry. The plane was headed to Sumatra, an island in Indonesia. The searches claim to have recovered body parts from the crash scene; as well as ID cards, bags, phones and other belongings. Some videos have shown spills of oil and accessories with Lion logo on it at the crash scene. The reason for the devastating incident is still unknown. Although, Lion Air chief executive, Edward Sirait, said that the plane which experienced the crash had a "technical problem" on a previous flight, which was resolved "according to procedure".

The incident was highly traumatic for the families and friends of the victims who rushed to Jakarta airport and Headquarters of Search and Rescue Agency to hear some news about their loved ones while praying for them. Wife of Muhammed Syafii, a passenger on board, told while sobbing:

"This morning he called asking about our youngest son"

The president of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, said that he had ordered the National Commission for Transportation Safety to begin an investigation immediately. Speaking at a conference in Bali, Mr Widodo said that he felt the anxiety of the families waiting for news of their loved ones and urged Indonesians to "keep on praying".

Indonesia is the largest Muslim country with a population approximately 225 Million Muslims. Most of the victims are believed to be Muslims who are in dire need of prayers from our Muslim Ummah. May Allah grant Sabr (patience) to their families and grant forgiveness to all our Muslim brothers and sisters who passed away in this tragic accident. To learn the prayers (duas) for deceased, read Duas for deceased and Duas for Jannah. It is said in Quran that:

“Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.” (Surah Imran:185)
